A dermatologist is a medical doctor who specializes in skin, the diseases of the skin, and the relationship of skin lesions to overall disease.

Today’s dermatologists have completed many years of training to become experts in their field.

  • Four-year undergraduate degree
  • Four years of medical school
  • One year of internship
  • Three years of specialty training within a dermatology residency program

Physician Assistants are health care professionals within a medical practice.

PAs are trained in intensive education programs accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) .

Their training can include:

  • Four-year undergraduate degree
  • Masters Degree
  • Specialized training in dermatology

Our Physician Assistants are PA-C, which means they are physician assistant-certified. To maintain that “C” after “PA”, a physician assistant must log 100 hours of continuing medical education every two years and take the recertification exam every ten years.
